Best Tummy Disguising Jeans for Women in Perimenopause and Menopause

Which jeans styles will disguise your tummy, feel comfortable and look stylish while you navigate your body changes during perimenopause and menopause? Watch this live to find out.

Remember the days when we were all squeezing into the low rise skinny jeans because that was all there was? Thankfully today, there are many cuts and styles to choose from, but which styles work best for you as your navigate body changes?

Having tested many different styles on various body shapes and sizes, this is what I have found.

When you are wanting to disguise your tummy, it’s easy to focus on only dressing to cover up your tummy. In reality, you need to look at your whole shape and dress to create a sence of balance.

Slim Flare

I’m not sure if that is the correct name for it, but it’s the style of jean that fits snuggly in the leg and flares slightly at the hem. I have found this to be such a great style for balancing out the tummy. Because there is flare at the bottom, it makes everything above it seem narrow in comparison. It also makes your legs look longer since the hem can cover part of your shoe instead of ending at your ankle like a skinny jeans does. This also allows you to wear a high heel or platform without it being obvious that you are doing so. To see a visual of this, watch the video below.

High Rise vs Mid Rise

This will vary from woman to woman depending on your body shape and comfort level. Here are my thoughts on both:

High Rise:

These are jeans that cover your belly button and sit higher up. This can give you what I like to call ‘the sucky iny effect’ for your tummy but in order to feel comfortable in high rise, the denim needs to have stretch. There is nothing worse than having a pair of jeans you love only to feel like you need to unzip them every time you have a bloated moment. In attempt to cover up your tummy, avoid the temptation to wear big baggy tops with your high rise. The extra support will allow you to wear more shapely (not tight) and shorter tops or you can tuck in tops to define your waist and make your legs look longer.

Mid Rise:

These are jeans that sit just below your belly button. The benefit to a mid rise is that they can minimize your tummy because of where the waistband sits, but the waistband does need to stretch. If it sits too tightly it can create the ‘muffin effect’ and make it harder for you to wear shapely tops with your jeans. When you find the right pair, these can be super comfy and they can be easier to wear on your not bloated and bloated days.

Wide Leg Jeans:

I love wide leg jeans because they can offer balance for your curves and make your waist and tummy look very slim. The key is to find the right shape. You want wide leg jeans that fit well in the waist and hips and then flare beyond the width of your hips. If they are baggy all over, it will just add extra unwanted volume. Be sure to wear fitted or tucked in tops with wide legs so that you balance the volume.
